Chris Hadfield marked his handover of command of the International Space Station with a remarkable performance of David Bowie’s Space Oddity. Paul Owen runs through the tweeting astronaut’s greatest hits.

• • Colonel Chris Hadfield handed over command of the International Space Station yesterday, and to mark the occasion posted a remarkable performance of David Bowie’s Space Oddity in which he and his guitar float around the space station in a most peculiar way – just the way, in fact, that Bowie might have envisaged when he wrote the 1969 hit.

Hadfield will fly back to earth today in a Russian Soyuz space capsule – a reference to which he shoehorned into his version of Space Oddity – and will land in Kazakhstan around 3pm BST.

The Canadian astronaut has become a social media sensation since arriving at the space station in December and starting to tweet away from over 200 miles above the globe. “Brilliant insight into every schoolboy’s dream,” wrote Liam Rudden on Twitter, while on YouTube conner sup commented wistfully: “i wish u were my dad,” perhaps indicative of two elements of Hadfield’s appeal.

Parece que el hecho de que dos meteoritos pasen tan cerca de la Tierra el mismo día, inclusive uno de ellos chocando con ella, es una gran coincidencia. Por lo que se sabe hasta el momento, describen trayectorias en direcciones distintas por lo que se presume que efectivamente, son dos meteoritos. Uno de ellos, el DA14 estaba perfectamente previsto desde hace tiempo pero ¿y el otro? Nos ha tomado por completa sorpresa. ¿Qué significa esta coincidencia?…

The first time I saw a fitness landscape cartoon (in Garrett Hardin’s Man And Nature, 1969), I knew it was giving me advice on how not to get stuck over-adapted—hence overspecialized—on some local peak of fitness, when whole mountain ranges of opportunity could be glimpsed in the distance, but getting to them involved venturing “downhill” into regions of lower fitness. I learned to distrust optimality.

• For Architects, films and books are a very powerful medium because it allows them to walk virtually through a model or a small mock up of the building or an alternative world while the client is watching and enables them to also demonstrate design ideas as if the building was explored by the eyes of the visitors. Altough they are different fields, they represent lives, time and space in different ways; movies or books portray scenarios and help enhance the image, architecture on the other hand represents it by building it and physically giving it to the people and the city. Hence a film or a book can use architecture to enhance and create the narrative.
